To be honest, the best thing you can do is either contact local hospitals and doctor's offices to see if anyone might need some basic assistance, or just look for a non-medical job in the interim. Sometimes you can get a short-term, high paying job doing work that's completely unrelated to medicine, and that will be sufficient to pay your bills until you get into a residency program.

To Whom It May Concern:
I am in a rather unique situation. I am a FMG from Dominica, which allows three semester starting points every year. Parallel to this, is a matching number of gradation dates. I am scheduled to graduate this November. I have already finished applying for 2009 residency and am awaiting scheduled interviews from Nov 2008- Dec 2008 thus far. I will finish all my clerckship credits by November 7, 2008 and have a volunteer research project beginning at the end of November. My concern and reason for emailing is to gain some insight as to what I can do to help my financial constraints until I am in residency. I believe I will be able to defer my loans until I match. However, even with a further grace period, I have bills to pay and have exhausted all loans. Might you have any leads or suggestions as to where to look for potential jobs for someone in my situation? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you....
